目前，許多養老基金、捐贈基金和主權財富基金仍對比特幣保持謹慎。一方面源於價格波動帶來的風險評估壓力，另一方面也與監管路徑、歷史數據樣本不足有關。不過，Dan Morehead認為，這種“認知與配置之間的空檔”反而構成了不對稱機會。一旦機構僅將1%至2%的資產配置轉向比特幣，需求變化就可能對價格產生明顯影響。
從歷史表現看，比特幣在過去十年相對黃金的漲幅已超過5100%。黃金依舊具備避險屬性，但作為新興的數字化價值存儲工具，比特幣擁有2100萬枚固定上限、可快速跨境轉移、透明可驗證等優勢，這些特徵正吸引越來越多關注通脹與貨幣貶值風險的投資者。
