PANews 1月12日消息，以太坊联合創始人Vitalik Buterin在X平台發文稱，以太坊本身必須通過“隨時可抽身離去”的檢驗。以太坊的定位，是成為各類無需信任和最小化信任應用的理想棲息地，無論是金融、治理領域，還是其他行業。它得支持那些更像“工具”的應用，而非那些一旦供應商停止維護就完全失效的“服務”。即便某些應用確實依賴供應商的某些功能，以太坊也應盡可能減少這種依賴，並在依賴失效時，最大程度保護用戶。但如果底層協議本身也依賴某個“供應商”（即便這個“供應商”是全體核心開發者的協作流程）的持續更新才能維持可用，那構建上述理想應用就無從談起。以太坊區塊鏈本身必須具備我們所期望其應用擁有的那些特性。所以，以太坊自身必須通過“可隨時抽離”的考驗。
這意味着以太坊要達到一個階段，在這個階段我們能“在需要時使其固化”。我們不必停止對協議的修改，但要確保以太坊的價值主張不再嚴格依賴尚未納入協議的任何功能。具體涵蓋以下方面：完全抗量子計算能力、可擴展至高性能的架構、可延續數十年的狀態架構、通用化帳戶模型、可靠的抗拒絕服務攻擊的Gas定價機制、基於長期經驗的權益證明經濟模型、抵禦中心化壓力且保障抗審查的區塊構建模型。理想狀態下，未來幾年我們應努力工作，以達到幾乎所有未來創新都能通過客戶端優化實現，並通過參數更改反映在協議中的階段。每年，我們至少要完成上述目標中的一項，最好能完成多項。基於對正確之事的深刻理解，一次性把事情做好（而非採取折中的臨時方案），從長遠看，能最大化以太坊的技術和社會穩健性。
