Over 20 Tankers Resume Hormuz Strait Transit, Carrying 35M Barrels; Crude Falls on Supply Recovery

According to maritime data provider Kpler, on June 25, over 20 tankers carrying approximately 35 million barrels of crude have transited the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S.-Iran agreement reopened this critical shipping channel. The non-Iranian vessels had been stranded in the Persian Gulf for more than three months after Iran effectively blocked the waterway during initial conflict escalation. Most tankers are expected to reach Asian destinations by early August. Crude prices retreated from wartime highs as markets anticipate improved global supply. Citigroup expects Brent crude to decline to $60–65 per barrel over the next 6–12 months as Hormuz shipping normalizes.
