JPN225-1.76%
According to Yonhapinfomax, Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 1,811.45 points, or 2.73%, to close at 64,611.15 on July 24. The index fell over 3% intraday, driven by sell-offs in semiconductor stocks following overnight declines in U.S. tech shares. Investor concerns about excessive AI investment spending, triggered by Alphabet's expanded investment announcement, intensified selling pressure. SoftBank Group shares dropped over 7%, while Kyocera fell more than 9%. The broader TOPIX index declined 1.05% to 4,011.31. Rising oil prices due to escalating Middle East tensions and rate hike concerns also weighed on sentiment.
