According to Taiwan prosecutors on July 20, a former TSMC executive was indicted for allegedly stealing national critical technology secrets to assist China's semiconductor development. The defendant is accused of unlawfully copying 21 confidential TSMC documents involving core national technology and transmitting them to China, where they were intended to support semiconductor research. Prosecutors stated the attempted technology transfer ultimately failed, but emphasized this marks the first national security law prosecution for attempting to leak Taiwan's critical semiconductor technology to China. The prosecution seeks up to 7 years imprisonment.
