According to Bloomberg, Christopher Giancarlo, former chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, will join Jefferies Financial Group in July as a senior advisor focused on investment banking. The 67-year-old will leverage his regulatory background and network to connect market participants and support the bank's business expansion.
During his tenure at the CFTC, Giancarlo oversaw the launch of bitcoin futures contracts by the Chicago Board Options Exchange and CME, and advocated for a more constructive regulatory approach to cryptocurrency at a time when Washington remained broadly skeptical of the emerging industry.
