Dow Falls Over 540 Points as Trump Announces Fresh Iran Strikes for Wednesday

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the U.S. ceasefire with Iran has ended following Tuesday night's strikes, and said the United States will conduct fresh military operations against Iran later that day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 540 points, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.6% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.4%.

Crude oil prices surged in response. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures expiring in August rose 4.8% to $73.82 per barrel, while Brent crude futures for September gained 5.18% to $78 per barrel.
