BOJ May Raise Policy Rate to 1.5% by 2027, Starting in July from Current 0.75%

GateNews
According to S&P Global economist Harumi Taguchi, the Bank of Japan may raise its policy rate from the current 0.75% to 1.0% in July, with further hikes in December and 2027 bringing it to 1.5%. Rising oil prices and yen weakness could prompt additional rate increases if inflationary pressures persist. Taguchi noted that the yen is unlikely to recover in the near term due to sustained high oil prices boosting dollar demand and market expectations of Fed rate hikes.
