According to investment firm HC Wainwright, Bitcoin (BTC) could reach $225,000 by the end of 2025, more than doubling its current price, due to regulatory clarity and increased institutional adoption.

The company raised its price target from $145,000 in a note sent to investors today, implying a potential increase of over 130%.

H.C. Wainwright analyst Mike Colonnese said, based on our analysis of historical price cycles and recent price movements, we expect Bitcoin to reach $225,000 per coin by the end of 2025, with the expectation of a more favorable regulatory environment in the US under the new administration, the presence of spot Bitcoin ETFs, and the accelerated adoption by institutional investors and companies.

The projected price corresponds to a market value of approximately 4.5 trillion dollars; this is approximately 25% of the total market value of gold. However, Colonnese warned investors to expect some fluctuation, pointing out that historically Bitcoin has experienced 30% declines during bull markets. Please provide the text to be translated. Colonnese added, “The movement of BTC price is highly correlated with the global liquidity (measured by M2) which has been in a downtrend since October,” adding, “We predict that Bitcoin could drop to levels around $70,000 in the early quarters of 2025 and then rise again.”

Colonnese also emphasized a potentially groundbreaking idea: the creation of a national Bitcoin reserve for the United States. Initially proposed by Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis and later echoed by elected President Donald Trump, this idea envisions Bitcoin as a strategic treasury reserve asset.

HC Wainwright has set the likelihood of the US accepting such a reserve this year at 60%, which could push Bitcoin significantly above the firm’s $225,000 target.

Investors are expecting critical developments in this year’s crypto regulations and hoping that Congress will provide long-awaited regulatory clarity. H.C. Wainwright anticipates that this could lead to increased investment in Bitcoin, including public companies that add BTC to their balance sheets and advisor allocations.
