Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accuses the United States’ April 5 pilot rescue operation of violating its airspace, and raises questions or suggests it may be cover for stealing enriched uranium

Gate News message: On April 6, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Baghaei said at a news briefing held that day that the pilot rescue operation carried out by the United States on April 5 constitutes an infringement of Iran’s airspace and raises many questions. Baghaei said that the area where the U.S. pilot is reportedly located is in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, while the area where the U.S. actually carried out the rescue operation is in central Iran—far apart. Baghaei emphasized that this U.S. action could be a “cover operation,” and that the real purpose might be to steal enriched uranium, a possibility that should not be ignored. He said the operation is a “catastrophic scandal” for the United States.
