The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) stated that at the “2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC)” held in Barcelona, Spain, opportunities were provided for domestic startups to attract investment from global companies. This is part of efforts to connect Korean ICT startups with international investors.
MWC is one of the world’s largest ICT exhibitions, with approximately 2,900 companies from 205 countries and over 100,000 visitors participating this year, reaffirming its industry prominence. KOTRA co-hosted the “K-Innovation Day” at the event with the Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association and the Technology Guarantee Fund, and arranged investor presentation opportunities (IR) for nine domestic startups.
Startups in AI, semiconductors, wireless communication, and security that participated showcased their companies to global investors and venture capital firms invited by KOTRA, including Qualcomm and Nestlé. Notably, these startups engaged in real-time negotiations with European and Spanish investors on-site, averaging more than four follow-up discussions, gaining significant attention.
For example, “Milliway,” which provides wireless communication solutions for robots, is continuing negotiations with local governments in Spain. “CIT,” with semiconductor packaging technology, and “Batterfly,” developing electric vehicle battery monitoring systems, are also in talks with major global companies.
To maximize the results of this event, KOTRA provided pre-event consulting support and plans to offer ongoing export assistance through reports and other means. These efforts are expected to play an important role in helping Korean innovative companies in semiconductors, robotics, and AI seize global market opportunities.
