U.S. Court of Appeals Rejects Trump Administration's Request to Delay Tariff Refunds

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that most of the tariffs imposed by former President Trump’s administration are invalid. The Department of Justice then filed an appeal with the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, requesting an additional 90-day buffer period to give the executive and legislative branches time to consider options, potentially delaying the process by up to four months. However, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the DOJ’s request, allowing the subsequent steps for tariff refunds to proceed quickly. This ruling clears the way for lower courts, including the U.S. International Trade Court, to initiate legal procedures related to tariff refunds. According to DOJ lawyers, the refund process could take several years to complete. Following the Supreme Court’s decision, hundreds of new lawsuits for tariff refunds have been filed, bringing the total number of cases facing the Trump administration over tariffs to more than 2,000.
