BlockBeats News, January 18 — According to Bloomberg, Senate Democrats plan to introduce legislation to block Trump from imposing tariffs on European countries opposing the US annexation of Greenland. Previously, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticized this move, saying it harms the US economy and its alliances.
Earlier today, Trump posted on Truth Social stating that due to the Greenland issue (a Danish autonomous territory), starting February 1 this year, all goods exported from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland to the US will be subject to a 10% tariff. By June 1 this year, the tariffs will increase to 25%. These tariffs must be paid continuously until an agreement is reached on the “comprehensive and thorough purchase of Greenland.”
