ChainCatcher News reports that a 32-year-old Hong Kong man suspected of losing about 10 million yuan in cryptocurrency investments committed suicide by jumping from a building after returning from the UK to Hong Kong the day before yesterday, in front of his father.
According to reports, the man held a master’s degree and was pursuing a second master’s degree. He developed a mental illness after losing his job due to the pandemic in 2022 and needed regular medication. The man went to the UK for further studies in September last year. Recently, he was emotionally unstable when in contact with his father, and under family persuasion, he returned to Hong Kong for medical treatment.
The day before yesterday, after arriving home, the man told his father that he had lost about 10 million yuan in cryptocurrency investments. He then lost control of his emotions, cut his wrists, and jumped from the balcony. After investigation, the police considered the case to be without suspicion and classified it as a fall from a height case.
