PANews January 12 News, according to CNBC, former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said on Monday that the investigation into Powell damages the independence of the Federal Reserve. Yellen added that financial markets should pay more attention to this “extremely chilling” situation. Yellen said, “I’m surprised the market hasn’t shown more concern. In my view, the market should indeed be worried.” Yellen expressed her disapproval of the suggestion that Powell may have perjured himself last year. She stated, “I know Powell very well, and the possibility of him perjuring himself is zero. So I truly believe they are trying to oust him for his seat.”
