Alibaba plans to benchmark ChatGPT and comprehensively restructure AI applications.

According to Jin10, sources reveal that Alibaba (BABA.N) is planning a comprehensive overhaul of its main mobile AI application in the coming months to make its functionality closer to OpenAI's ChatGPT. This is a key step in the company's broader effort to catch up with competitors and ultimately achieve profitability from individual users. Sources indicate that Alibaba plans to first update the existing “Tongyi” app on iOS and Android systems and rename it to “Qwen (Tongyi Qwen)” — derived from its well-known AI large model. Sources say that smart AI capabilities will be gradually added, supporting platform shopping features, including the main Taobao site, in the coming months. Their ultimate goal is to try to develop Qwen into a fully functional AI agent. Additionally, Alibaba also plans to eventually launch an overseas version for global expansion.
