Four years after raising 203 million USD through the NFT land sale, the Ember Sword game on Ethereum has officially announced its closure due to a lack of funding to maintain operations.

Developed by Bright Star Studios, Ember Sword was once one of the standout MMORPG projects of the metaverse wave in 2021. Despite attracting significant investors and advisors from the traditional gaming industry, the game could not continue due to a weakening market.

The closure of Ember Sword extends the list of recently inactive blockchain games, including Nyan Heroes, Blast Royale, Tatsumeeko, and Deadrop — reflecting the wave of recession in the Web3 gaming industry amid a serious lack of funding.
