Vietnam Establishes Crypto Trading Penalties Up to $1,900 Fine, Effective Sept. 1

According to BlockBeats, Vietnam issued Decree 284/2026/NĐ-CP on July 20, establishing administrative penalties for unlicensed cryptocurrency trading. Investors trading on unauthorized platforms face fines up to 50 million Vietnamese dong (approximately $1,900), while unauthorized crypto issuance and serious anti-money laundering violations carry maximum penalties of 200 million dong (roughly $7,700). Regulators gain authority to suspend crypto operations, revoke licenses, and seize assets. The decree takes effect on September 1. Vietnam's regulated crypto market is expected to launch in the third quarter of this year, following the opening of domestic exchange license applications in January.
