According to Yonhapinfomax, the U.S. dollar strengthened on July 20 as Houthi rebels declared an immediate naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, triggering concerns over disruption to oil shipments through the Red Sea. The dollar index (DXY) rose to 100.952, up 0.223 points or 0.221%. The dollar-yen rate climbed to 162.520 yen, while the euro-dollar rate fell to 1.14157. Brent crude for September delivery rose 1.27% to $89.22 per barrel amid the blockade announcement.
