U.S. Auto, Medical Device Industries Call on Trump Administration to Expand Memory Chip Supply on June 3

According to nine industry associations including the Alliance for Automotive Innovation and Medical Device Manufacturers Association, on June 3, these groups sent a joint letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, warning that AI-driven memory chip shortages pose an increasing threat to critical supply chains and consumer prices.

The industry groups stated that AI data centers are rapidly consuming memory chip production capacity, causing unprecedented price increases and making it harder for manufacturers and consumers to access chips. They called on the Trump administration to work with memory producers and downstream customers to expand production capacity in the U.S. and allied nations through trade agreements and the CHIPS Act.
