According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine conducted overnight drone attacks on major Russian military and energy facilities on June 3, including the Saint Petersburg oil terminal located approximately 1,100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Zelenskyy stated on X that the strikes were part of Ukraine's long-range targeting plan to accelerate peace.

In a separate strike, Ukrainian forces attacked the Kronshtadt naval base near Saint Petersburg, damaging the advanced Russian guided-missile stealth frigate Boyky, which was undergoing repairs and caught fire as a result.
