Trump Says Netanyahu Halted Beirut Strikes After Today's Call; Hezbollah Agrees to Ceasefire

According to US President Trump, he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu today (June 1) and urged him to halt large-scale strikes on Beirut. Netanyahu subsequently ordered troops to withdraw from the area. Trump also said he held talks with representatives of Hezbollah, who agreed to cease fire on Israel and its soldiers; Israel in turn agreed to stop firing on them.

Trump expressed hope the ceasefire will hold long-term, though he cautioned it remains to be seen how long it will last.
