South Korea's May Exports Surge 60.7% YoY, Trade Surplus Hits $26.9B

According to South Korea Customs, the country's exports in May increased 60.7% year-over-year after adjusting for working-day differences, while imports rose 20.8%. The data, released on June 1, showed a trade surplus of $26.9 billion. On an unadjusted basis, May exports grew 53.2%, marking the largest increase since January 1984. Semiconductor products led export growth, driven by strong global investment demand in artificial intelligence and data centers.
