South Korea's Financial Services Commission Meets with Asset Managers on Leveraged ETF Restrictions on July 23

According to the financial services industry, South Korea's Financial Services Commission held a closed-door meeting on July 23 with asset managers including Samsung Asset Management and KB Asset Management, as well as securities firms, to discuss measures addressing single-stock leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The regimen includes raising minimum deposit requirements from 10 million won to 30 million won starting August 5. The financial authority previously projected that ETF market capitalization would decline to approximately 4-5 trillion won, roughly one-third of current levels, following implementation.
