According to The Block, on Tuesday Senate Democrats urged Republican leadership to immediately hold hearings on reported ties between President Donald Trump's family crypto venture and Abu Dhabi royalty. Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that an Abu Dhabi investment vehicle backed by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan secretly acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial—a DeFi and stablecoin project listing Trump and his three sons as advisors—in an agreement signed by Eric Trump four days before the president's January 2025 inauguration. The $500 million investment included $187 million going to Trump family-controlled entities. Democratic senators, including Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden, expressed concern that the investment may have influenced subsequent Trump administration decisions affecting U.S. national security.
