According to BlockBeats, on June 6, security researcher Taylor Hornby announced plans to audit Monero (XMR) and extend security reviews to additional privacy coin projects. Hornby discovered a critical vulnerability in Zcash's Orchard shielded pool on May 29, which had gone undetected since May 2022. The vulnerability could theoretically allow attackers to infinitely mint undetectable counterfeit ZEC. Shielded Labs completed an emergency patch by June 1 and subsequently disclosed the vulnerability details. ZEC declined 38% within 24 hours of the announcement.
