Scammers Impersonate Moscow Exchange in Phishing Campaign, Stealing Funds Across Russia

According to ChainCatcher, fraudsters impersonated authorized brokers of Moscow Exchange on social media to lure users into clicking phishing links under the pretext of offering a "crypto trading test channel," resulting in theft of funds and personal data. The Moscow Exchange clarified that all official trading must be conducted through licensed brokers, and no exclusive crypto purchase channels exist for retail users.

Data from Russian IT firm Shard shows that Russian users lost approximately 234 million rubles to crypto phishing attacks in 2025, accounting for 62% of total crypto asset losses that year.
