Nvidia Launches AI Compute Partnership to Guarantee GPU Overcapacity Buyback for Startup Cloud Providers

According to BlockBeats, on July 2, Nvidia launched the AI Compute Partnership program to support startup cloud service providers. Under the scheme, Nvidia guarantees to purchase any unsold GPU capacity from participating startups such as Firmus and Sharon AI. In return, Nvidia receives a share of the cloud providers' service revenue—with the percentage declining over the contract term—or equity subscription rights.

The initiative addresses a critical challenge for early-stage cloud operators: data center construction and GPU purchases require massive capital investment, making it difficult for startups with lower credit ratings to secure financing. Nvidia's capacity guarantee effectively provides credit backing, helping these companies obtain loans. The move also reduces Nvidia's reliance on major customers like Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta, which dominate current GPU purchases but are developing proprietary chips.
