London Stock Exchange Launches LSE 24, a 24/5 Trading Venue for Digital and Algorithmic Trading

According to the London Stock Exchange, the exchange announced Tuesday the launch of LSE 24, a new 24/5 trading venue running 17:00 to 07:50 Monday through Friday to support digital, algorithmic, and agent-based trading. The venue will include a 30-minute pause each evening for end-of-day processing and will operate separately from the Main Market.

LSE 24 will be available for client testing by the end of 2026, with exchange-traded products launching in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval. The infrastructure underpinning the venue leverages LSEG's forthcoming Digital Securities Depository, aimed at digitizing issuance, settlement, and asset servicing. According to TD Cowen analysts, the launch signals a broader shift toward automation and increasingly digital post-trade infrastructure, with plans to expand into equities using central limit order book and request-for-quote functionality.
