According to ChainCatcher, the Ethereum community is discussing EIP-8222, a proposal that aims to enhance validator privacy through STARK-based cryptography by separating deposits and withdrawals. The mechanism would re-anonymize validators to reduce traceability of their activities, currently affecting approximately one-third of ETH in staking.
Thibault Dubuis, head of staking and decentralized finance at Sygnum Bank, noted that current deposit addresses, validators, and withdrawal credentials form a visible chain, making institutional holdings, entry timing, and staking strategies nearly public. The proposal remains in discussion phase with no deployment timeline. Implementation could impose higher execution costs, process delays, and additional compliance burdens on institutional users.
