KOSPI at Critical 8200-Point Level on July 13; Breakthrough Could Lead to 10,000, Weakness May Trigger 7,000-Level Breach

According to Daeshin Securities analyst Lee Kyung-min, South Korea's KOSPI index faces a critical juncture at the 8200-point level on July 13. Breaching 8200 could propel the index toward the 10,000-point mark, while failure to hold the level may trigger a decline below 7,000 points. The KOSPI fell 7.57% last week, closing at 7,475.94 points, pressured by profit-taking in semiconductor stocks following Samsung Electronics' preliminary earnings, and heightened geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and Iran affecting commodity prices and Treasury yields. The index has entered a historically low valuation zone, with its 12-month forward price-to-earnings ratio dropping to 6.36x, comparable to lows during the 2008 global financial crisis.
