Japan's Agriculture Minister States Ink Supply Sufficient as Food Companies Adjust Packaging on May 15

According to Japan’s Common News Agency, on May 15, Japan’s Agriculture Minister Suzuki Norikazu stated that food companies are adjusting packaging designs as a precautionary measure, though current supplies face no immediate issues. The minister emphasized that ink supply remains at normal levels and meets demand. “These are commercial decisions by individual companies to prepare for potential supply disruptions,” he said, clarifying the trend is not directly triggered by Middle East tensions. Food manufacturer Calbee has already switched its chip packaging to a black-and-white design as part of the broader industry shift.
