According to the Offshore Alliance union, Australia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities face labor action risks starting this week. The dispute between the union and contractor UGL Limited over wages and working conditions is expected to trigger actions at Woodside Energy’s Karratha gas plant and Pluto facility beginning May 15.
Separately, workers at Inpex’s Ichthys project plan to strike unless a final collective bargaining meeting before the Fair Work Commission on May 16 reaches an agreement. The labor actions pose additional supply risks to Asian buyers already facing disruptions from Middle East supply shortages.
