Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister States Iran and Oman Hold Sole Sovereignty Over Strait of Hormuz on June 1

According to Al Jazeera, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated on June 1 that Iran and Oman are the only two nations with the right to exercise sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Gharibabadi said Iran has implemented a new traffic and navigation control procedure in the waterway, coordinated with Oman. He added that Iran has urged Oman not to yield to U.S. pressure following threats from the Trump administration.
