According to data from AppMagic and research firm Recon Analytics cited by Jin Shi Data, Grok’s downloads fell sharply to approximately 8.3 million in April 2026 from over 20 million in January. A survey of more than 260,000 U.S. AI users and professionals showed that only 0.174% of respondents in Q2 2026 were willing to pay for Grok, essentially flat from 0.173% a year earlier. In comparison, over 6% of respondents reported having paid for ChatGPT, highlighting Grok’s widening gap with industry leaders.
