Gold and Silver Trading Volume and Open Interest Surge on June 17; WTI Crude Oil Cools

According to CME data on June 17, gold and silver trading activity and open interest increased. Gold saw 181,188 contracts traded with 339,700 open interest, up 81,509 contracts and 370 contracts respectively from the prior day. Silver recorded 73,730 contracts traded with 107,780 open interest, gaining 25,893 contracts and 59 contracts from the previous session. In contrast, WTI crude oil trading volume and open interest declined, with 829,219 contracts traded and 1,972,929 open interest, down 166,624 contracts and 34,780 contracts respectively.
