Crypto Promoter Rodney Burton Pleads Guilty to $1.8 Billion HyperFund Fraud on June 18

According to Cryptopolitan, on June 18, Rodney Burton, a Miami-based crypto promoter known as "Bitcoin Rodney," pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in connection with the $1.8 billion HyperFund cryptocurrency fraud case. The 56-year-old admitted to operating unlicensed money transmitting entities that laundered investor funds for HyperFund while earning at least $7.85 million personally. HyperFund falsely promised daily returns of 0.5% to 1% from alleged large-scale crypto mining operations that did not exist. Burton faces a maximum five-year sentence, with sentencing scheduled for July 23.
