China Threatens Countermeasures Against EU's 'Excess Capacity Tool' on May 29

According to China's Ministry of Commerce statement released May 29, China threatened comprehensive countermeasures if the European Commission proceeds with its 'excess capacity tool' policy under discussion. Chinese officials stated that anti-discrimination investigations and supply chain security reviews are available options. The ministry made clear that if Chinese national interests or corporate rights are harmed, Beijing will firmly retaliate. China said it is prepared to take action if the EU moves forward with the initiative.
