CFTC Opens Public Comment on 24/7 Futures Trading and Energy Perpetual Contracts

According to CFTC official announcement, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on June 23 is seeking public comment on two energy derivatives market developments: extending standard futures contracts to 24-hour, 7-day trading, and potentially listing perpetual contracts backed by physically deliverable or storable energy commodities such as crude oil. Contracts would maintain fixed expiration dates under the 24/7 trading proposal. Comments must be submitted within 30 days of publication in the Federal Register.
