Apple's A22 Pro to Debut TSMC's 1.4nm Process in 2028, 27% Lower Power Consumption

According to Wccftech and supply chain sources, Apple's A22 Pro processor, planned for release in 2028, will be the first Apple chip to use TSMC's 1.4nm process. Compared to the current N2 process, the A14 achieves 16% better performance at the same power level or reduces power consumption by 27% at the same frequency. TSMC is ramping production of its 1.4nm technology at Fab 25, with trial production expected in March 2027 and mass production slated to begin in the second half of 2028. The cost per wafer is estimated at $45,000, with the standard A22 variant's adoption status still undetermined.
