just realized how much i was getting ripped off at the airport last time i traveled to europe lol. so i started researching the euro to dollar conversion formula and honestly it's way simpler than i thought. like, you just multiply your USD amount by the current exchange rate and boom, that's your euro amount. sounds obvious but i never actually did the math myself before.
anyway, learned that there are basically a few ways to handle this. the currency conversion formula is straightforward enough if you look up the rate online, but the real issue is fees. apparently airport exchanges are the worst - they charge crazy fees and give terrible rates. my bank actually has better options if i plan ahead. some banks even waive conversion fees depending on your account type, which is clutch.
if you're traveling soon and need to convert dollars to euros, honestly just go to your bank before you leave. way cheaper than waiting until you're abroad. and if you need more cash while you're there, use your bank's ATM network if possible. there's also online currency ordering but you pay for shipping, so that depends on how much you need.
the euro to dollar conversion formula is literally just multiplication, but the fees are where they get you. so many people don't realize how much they're overpaying at airports. definitely worth doing this stuff in advance if you can. anyone else get burned by airport exchange rates?
