Trump Announces 10-Day Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel - Lebanon

President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire effective starting today, Thursday (16/4), at 5:00 PM ET. In his official post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun agreed to initiate this peace step after a meeting in Washington D.C. which was also attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump emphasized that this mission is part of his commitment to resolving global conflicts, instructing Vice President JD Vance and the national security team to oversee the establishment of long-term peace. The meeting between the two countries in Washington marked the first time in 34 years that their leaders sat together to ease tensions in the Middle East region.
This de-escalation narrative immediately provided a positive sentiment for risk assets. Bitcoin's price briefly touched 75,000 shortly after the announcement circulated, before stabilizing and remaining around 74,000. The market responded optimistically to this diplomatic move, as it was seen as capable of reducing global geopolitical uncertainty.
