Just realized I've been overthinking grocery shopping when broke. Like, there's actually a solid list of cheap foods that don't taste like you're punishing yourself. Been stocking up on pasta, rice, and beans lately because they're ridiculously affordable and you can make them into actual meals instead of just surviving on ramen.

The real game-changers though? Lentils and chickpeas. Both packed with protein, fill you up for hours, and cost basically nothing in bulk. Throw them in soups, salads, whatever. Eggs are another one - so versatile and inexpensive. Peanut butter too if you want something quick that actually keeps you satisfied.

For veggies when you're broke, cabbage is your friend. Seriously underrated. Frozen vegetables are clutch as well because they last forever in the freezer and honestly just as nutritious as fresh. Sweet potatoes and regular potatoes are cheap and work in like a hundred different dishes.

Meat-wise, pork shoulder is solid if you can grab it - roast it once and you've got meals all week. Canned tuna works when you need protein fast. And don't sleep on oatmeal for breakfast. Bulk containers are dirt cheap and actually filling.

The strategy is basically buying things that go a long way and mixing them creatively instead of eating the same thing every day. Bread, bananas, yogurt if it's on sale. It's less about finding miracle foods and more about being strategic with what you buy when money's tight.
