F2Pool Co-Founder Van Chun Opposes “Political Compromises” in BTC Protocol Updates

F2Pool co-founder Van Chun wrote on X that protocol updates for BTC should not be pushed through packages similar to American “consolidated bills,” and cited this as one of the reasons for his disagreement with BIP-110 and BIP-54. According to him, the Timewarp issue has long been known and almost provides no advantage to miners, and the acceleration of block verification has already been provided by libsecp256k1 and hardware updates without any changes to the protocol. He added that scenarios involving “fake already confirmed transactions” would require breaking the SHA256 double collision and would mean compromising the security of Bitcoin Core, so among the topics being discussed, the real value for fixing right now mainly lies in the problem of duplicate transactions.
