CryptoWorld News,
According to the U.S. NBC News website on April 3rd, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf seems to have threatened to block commercial shipping traffic through the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea. Ghalibaf posted on social platform X: “What share of the world's oil, liquefied natural gas, wheat, rice, and fertilizer transportation passes through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait?” He then wrote: “Which countries and companies have the highest proportion of shipments passing through this strait?” In recent years, ships passing through this area have repeatedly been attacked by the Houthi armed group in Yemen, which is allied with the Iranian regime. The threat to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait comes at a time when Iran has already largely cut off shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has plunged the global economy into chaos.
