Ethereum Layer 2 War: ARB and OP Ecosystem Comparison
Ethereum Layer 2 has entered a fiercely competitive phase. Arbitrum and Optimism are currently the two networks with the highest TVL. Arbitrum has an advantage in the DeFi ecosystem; major protocols such as GMX and Uniswap V3 are deployed on it, and its average daily trading volume exceeds $1 billion. Optimism, meanwhile, leverages the OP Stack superchain concept to attract other chains such as Base and Zora to join, enabling faster ecosystem expansion. From the perspective of tokens, ARB’s circulating market cap is about 1.8 times that of OP, but OP faces less unlocking pressure. On the technical side, ARB has strong support around $1.2, while OP repeatedly tests the $2.0 level. In the long run, both could become core infrastructure for Ethereum scaling, but in the short term, they are more affected by market sentiment. It is recommended to pay attention to changes in Gas fees after the Ethereum Cancun upgrade, as well as potential airdrops from new projects within the ecosystem.
