I used to play cards and gamble a long time ago, and I lost a year's worth of tuition fees. Since then, I have quit gambling. When gambling heavily and losing big, it's easy to get emotional and reckless. At that moment, you don't consider the risks at all; you just want to recover your losses as quickly as possible. The same goes for trading—when emotions take over, you stop thinking about the risks and focus only on making money back, often increasing your position size suddenly. Only in hindsight do you realize how reckless you were at that time, but back then, you couldn't see it. Bankruptcy from gambling and losing control in trading are driven by the same thing—emotion. Emotions are our biggest enemy; they stay on the sidelines, waiting to jump in and ruin you at any moment. So, when you're feeling emotional, you must stop, step away from the computer, go outside for a walk, and never fight your emotions. Only by relaxing can you trade well. If you're constantly in pain, it's impossible to do this long-term; otherwise, it will just waste your life in the end.
