Poor execution destroys even the best trading systems

Many traders are not without methods, not without systems, and not unable to read the market. But they lose on execution. They know they should cut losses, yet can’t bring themselves to do it. They know they should hold, yet can’t hold. They know they shouldn’t trade frequently, yet can’t stop themselves. They know to follow the trend, yet they always want to fight against it. No matter how perfect the plan is, if you don’t execute, it equals zero. No matter how excellent the system is, if you don’t stick with it, it equals waste. Execution is the final bridge connecting cognition to profit, and also the toughest hurdle. Execution isn’t driven by mood; it relies on habits, on discipline, and on forcing yourself. Every time you execute strictly, you move closer to stable profitability; every time you indulge yourself, you’re paving the way for liquidation. Stick to execution, and you can truly turn knowledge into returns.
