Just realized a lot of people asking how do i change my bank details on my r350 and honestly the process is pretty different depending on which grant you're on. If you're getting the permanent grants like disability or old age, you literally have to go to your SASSA office in person—can't do it online no matter what. They'll have you fill out the Payment Method Change Form, bring your ID and a bank statement that's not older than 3 months. Important thing: the account has to be in YOUR name only, no joint accounts. Takes about 21 working days to process after they send it to the bank, so if you need it sorted for next month's payment, submit before the 15th.



But if you're on the SRD grant, it's way easier—everything's online through the official SASSA SRD portal. You enter your ID number, they send you a secure link via SMS, then you just input your new bank details there. Still takes a few days to weeks for verification though, so don't expect instant changes.

For updating your phone number, permanent grant holders should call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office. SRD users can update it through the contact portal on the website—they'll send you an OTP to verify. Just make sure you're using the official SASSA website and not some dodgy copy trying to scam you. Seen too many people fall for fake sites lately.
