Just saw that BlackRock's Larry Fink hit a net worth of $1.1 billion according to Forbes. Wild that a CEO can accumulate that kind of wealth, right? Anyway, his annual comp from BlackRock alone ranges between $20-40 million, which is absolutely insane. In 2022 specifically, Larry Fink pulled in over $32.7 million total - base salary of $1.5M, bonus of $7.25M, and then like $23 million in stock awards. The math checks out but it's still crazy to see it broken down like that. What really got me though is the AFL-CIO report saying his compensation is 212 times what the median employee makes. That's the kind of gap that makes you think about how compensation works at these mega corporations. As of early 2024, his BlackRock holdings alone were worth north of $315 million based on his share count. So yeah, Larry Fink's net worth hitting $1.1 billion isn't exactly shocking when you look at the numbers, but seeing it all laid out is something else. Makes you wonder what the average person would do with that kind of wealth.
